Apostolic Priesthood and Masculine Fraternity
|
Part 1. The Life-Giving Fraternal Band of Apostolic Brothers
It is impossible to understand the masculine nature of the priesthood without first having understood the relationship between the supernatural (the spiritual order of God, angels, heaven, hell, and Satan) and the natural. To fully understand the all-male priesthood one must take into account a full view of reality itself. Part 3. Filiation and Fraternity
Dr. Pence continues his talk on the all-male priesthood by discussing our culture's misapplication of the Civil Rights Movement beyond the Christian movement to end racism. To further understand the all-male priesthood, Dr. Pence offers a reflection of the Fatherhood of God, the Sonship of Christ, and an understanding of brotherhood under the Father through incorporation into the Son. |
Part 2. Fraternity in Nature
As Dr. Pence further develops his argument, he examines what can be discovered about masculinity in nature and shows how "grace perfects nature" through God's elevation of fraternal love to a Band of Apostolic Brothers in the all-male Catholic priesthood. Part 4. A Brotherhood of Fathers
In his concluding argument, Dr. Pence enriches the sacramental theology of Holy Orders by explaining that the relationship between diocesan priests and their bishop and the relationship between all bishops and the pope represent the apostolic fraternity of Peter and the Twelve. Furthermore, the public fraternal love between men is not about intimacy, but is rather rooted in Biblical principles of masculine protection, production, and battle. |
